Israeli forces open fire in Lebanon again

The Israeli forces fired towards the residents of the southern Lebanon for a second consecutive day on Monday while people pushed with attempts to return home along the border, one day after at least two dozen people were killed and wounded scores in Israeli attacks , Lebanese officials said.

The Israeli fire on Sunday was the most fatal eruption of violence in Lebanon from the war between Israel and Hezbollah, the Lebanese militia, ended with a respite in November. In the renewed violence of Monday, at least two people were killed and 17 other wounds, according to the Ministry of Health of Lebanon.

The Israeli army declared in a declaration of having shot “warning strokes to eliminate threats”, without providing further details on the nature of these threats.

The photos of the Wire Agency showed Israeli forces gathered behind improvised road blocks, with southern book villages flattened visible on the slopes of the hills behind them. Some detained men were crouched next to a dirt road, with blindfolded eyes and with their hands tied while the Israeli soldiers were watching.

The images showed Hezbollah flags on full exhibition and crowds of men and women, in addition to the peace of the United Nations and Lebanese soldiers who tried to protect them.

The television screens, however, were invaded by the images of the dead.

The Israeli army declared Monday that she had redistributed in areas of southern Lebanon and repeated calls for Lebanese residents to wait for their approval before returning home. The Lebanese army had sent reinforcements in parts of the southern Lebanon at the beginning of the day, preparing to enter some cities and safeguard the civilians, according to reports from the Lebanon state press agency.

The Israeli forces killed at least 24 people and wounds another 134 Sundays, said Lebanese officials, after thousands of Lebanese marched towards southern cities and villages. Those areas remain occupied by Israel over a 60 -day deadline for his retreat pursuant to the Ceissimo Agreement of November, who asked both the forces of Israel and Hezbollah to leave the southern Lebanon and for the Lebanese army e The Pacifics of the United Nations to take sides in force there.

The Israeli army declared in a Sunday declaration that he fired “warning shots” to disperse what he called “revolt”. Last week, Israel had indicated that he would remain in the southern Lebanon despite the deadline, among the doubts about the ability of the Lebanese army to hinder Hezbollah’s rebirth.

The negotiators had hoped that the ceasefire of the United States would now have given way to a more permanent agreement. But while the 60 -day deadline passed on Sunday, the White House issued a declaration in which it is stated that the initial agreement would have been extended until February 18.

The leader of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, declared on Monday in a speech that the group did not accept the extension of the agreement of the fire and invited the Israeli forces to retire from Lebanon. However, Hezbollah is not the signatory of the agreement and the Lebanese government had already approved the extension after the discussions with the US officials.

The burst of diplomatic activity appeared designed to buy time and avoid further attacks of violence.

Mr. Qassem said that his group has reserved “the right to act as appropriate” if Israel has not been able to withdraw from the country, but has stopped delivering a direct threat during his Monday speech.

Incarned by the most fatal war with Israel for decades, the group has little impetus to rekindle a conflict that would weaken only the group while trying to recover, say the experts. Instead, Mr. Qassem invited the new Lebanon leaders to act and said that the international community would be responsible for “any consequences deriving from the delay”.

During a meeting with the US officials on Monday, Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, underlined that the extension “did not give Israel any excuse so as not to retire”, according to a declaration of his office. He accused the Israeli forces of “procrastinating” and said that pressure was needed to stop their “repeated violations” of the agreement on the truce.

The bloodshed of Sunday on Sunday caused urgent requests for moderation by the United Nations among the growing fears of an Israeli employment supported and renewed hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

Even if the ceased the fire held, even if preciously, in Lebanon, the Israeli army said she had “started an anti -terrorism operation” in the city of Tulkarm in the Israeli employed West Bank.

The military said that his plane had killed Ihab Abu Attawi, who was described as the head of the local Hamas branch, and that the images of a car were skipped in the air. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that an air attack killed two people and wounded three more.
