An e -mail obtained from the Times shows that a leader of the Committee, the representative Sharon Wylie, supporter of the sector, shared a draft of the bill with a cannabis lobbyist. “Thanks for being opened to the compromise approach,” he wrote.
In an interview, Mrs. Wylie said that “the jury is still out” on the potential damage of cannabis and that the regulated activities bring revenue to the state.
Mrs. Davis does not give up. He planns to introduce legislation to another committee this month that would prohibit all concentrates above 35 % of THC, with exemptions for medical use.
“The sector needs limits,” he said.
METHODOLOGY
The New York Times examined the sales data of two data companies in the Cannabis sector, Bdsa and Aurico Marchi in total.
Journalists then identified the page of each brand on Weedmaps, where available. Four were excluded, because they did not have a presence on weeds, their lists were lacking in specific descriptions of the product or had very few products listed.
In November 2024, the Times downloaded the entire WeedMaps product catalog for each of the remaining 20 brands: a data set containing almost 18,000 products. The times identified dozens of keywords related to health and health that appeared in the descriptions. For each brand, journalists confirmed that keywords were used to suggest that products could help treat specific health problems.
After contacting the brands for a comment, the Times has again examined the descriptions of weeds for all products in the initial analysis, to identify whether one of the languages related to health had been removed.
The lists of weeds do not necessarily include all the products sold with a particular brand and can reflect some items that are no longer sold.
The Times has conducted a separate analysis of the health affirmations on the Stiiizy website, focusing on its guides to the individual cannabis strains. Each guide included the flavors of the deformation, the alleged effects and conditions with which “helps”. The Times identified at the 82 programming level of these guides in December and January, based on the site’s sitemap and the conditions extracted listed in each.
